JCU Solar Installation
Designed as a technology demonstrator and teaching aid, Tropical Energy Solutions installed a 1.07 kWp PV System for the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Townsville Campus.
The system included:
- 5 x Sunpower 215 Watt PV Panels
- 1 x SMA SunnyBoy 1700 Inverter (to allow for future expansion)
- 1 x Sunny WebBox
JCU has since expanded its PV solar research installations to incude a further two 1.7kWp systems comprised of innovative QSmart 90 and QPro 235 modules from QCell
Tropical Energy Solutions provided both the engineering and installation for the two cyclone rated systems, which included an additional inverter system and connection to the existing data-logger and internet interface.
These installations allow JCU students to compare the performance of three different PV Solar technologies in a tropical environment.
